In cases of severe comminuted fractures, dislocation, or arthritis that require amputation of the leg, arthrodesis can be performed as an alternative procedure to preserve the limb. Arthrodesis involves cutting the bones corresponding to the upper and lower parts of the joint, aligning the cut surfaces, and then fixing them in place at a specific angle using implants.
For a good prognosis,it is crucial to accurately calculate the length and angle of the leg to ensure that the patient can walk comfortably following the surgery. However, several challenges arise due to factors such as limited surgical approach and the complex shape of the bones
An arthrodesis guide is a surgical instrument custom-made for each patient through a 3D simulation process using the patient's CT scans. It aids in precisely cutting and repositioning the cut surfaces.
The guide set consists of an osteotomy guide, which helps bone-cutting procedure, and reduction and compression guides used to realign and compress the bones
According to the request of the orthopedic surgeon, surgery plans and guides be designed. We provide it through a 3D viewer that can be accessed via a web browser or a mobile phone, allowing you to check them from anywhere. You are free to request modifications if necessary, and you can request the production of the surgical guide when you are satisfied with the results.
Additional models for twice rehearsal surgery is also provided. Orthopedic surgeons can perform the surgery in advance, identifying potential issues expected during the actual surgery, thereby increasing the success rate of the procedure. Additionally, a bone model is provided after the surgery, indicating the pre-simulated placement of the plate. By contouring the plate using this model, surgery time can be reduced.
